I've been trying to get my 8104 dvi-d output to work with a LG DLP screen. My computer doesn't seem to see that I am connected to screen. I have tried the VGA out with my computer screen and it worked right away...and my friend's powerbook works right away with the dvi-d cable and DLP screen. Is there some setting I don't know about to activate the dvi? I tried fn-f5 and all that shows is my laptop screen. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

I have sucessfully connected to an Acer monitor using DVI from my 8104.

What drivers are you using for the X700 ? I am using OMEGA ( 3.8.205 currently) it was a previous verion when I last connected.

Seems to me I had to change something under options (Reduce DVI frequency or something like that)

I am using driver version 6.14.10.6497, I clicked update driver and non were available. Should I download the OMEGA driver?

Sure just make sure you have the original drivers (in case you need to back them up)

I find the OMEGA drivers superior http://www.omegadrivers.net/ click on ATI follow links

As an FYI I just had an issue with a game demo and removed the Omega Drivers and downloaded and installed the stock ATI ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=1210 for link). I also used Driver Cleaner to remove all instances of anything ATI as per the Driver Cleaner Instructions. The point is these new drivers may solve one problem and cause another (ahhhhh software)

For your problem if you able to check the cable (try it on another machine if possible) at least elimiate that variable. Also if you can make sure the Monitor works with a DVI connection from some machine (again eliminates one more issue).

    Good Luck.

I am using omega 3.8.205 and am having no luck. I do know the cable works because I have connected another computer to the screen with this cable and it worked great. I also connected this computer to a monitor using the VGA and it worked fine. I tried "reduce DVI frequency" and nothing changed. I still have the screen showing "no signal" and when I press fn+F5 it only shows my computer screen. If someone could step me through a potential way of solving this it would be great. I don't know if it's me or if this computer's DVI port doesn't work. Please help...thanks
