    i have a brand new extensa 5420-5687. i was trying to make a recovery disk but the Acer eRecovery Management thingy is not working. i open it then it crashes. another window opens up that says:
    "eRecovery has stopped working." it then has two options below:
    -> Check online for a solution and close the program
    -> Close the program

    the first option does nothing. i expected explorer to open and then some online answer. there is also "problem details" which you can open or hide (which i'll paste below). any thoughts?????

    I have the exact same model but didn't have any problems making the Recovery DVDs. I first cleaned out all the Trial ware, including Norton and Office - there's a bunch of stuff in the Add/Remove Programs pertaining to Office. Do that and then maybe run CCleaner to finish up.

    On another matter, would you check to see if you have the "Vista's Long Goodbye" bug on yours? First make a new folder or text file and then delete it. You don't have to put anything in the folder or write anything in the text file. When it finally goes to the Recycle Bin, delete it from the Bin and see if it takes the same long time to complete the process.
