I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5570 (Z series) from Staples, and the eDataSecurity program keeps complaining that it is malfunctioning and warns me to reinstall it.

Since it obviously doesn't work and I really don't need its Private Disk stuff, can I safely uninstall it? Or does Acer have a patch to make it actually work (or at least shut up)?

My advice to anyone considering an Acer or Egis Tec product is to not even go there. I bought an Acer Aspire 6920 laptop that comes with Egis Tec software pre installed.

My experience has been nothing short of pathetic and downright negligible. Acer keeps giving me canned responses thanking me for my input and Egis Tec doesn't even respond. Both of them do take the time to mark my input as solved, closed, or voided each time though.

In short, I'm sorry I didn't go with the Lenovo Idea Book with the new face recognition technology. It's equally priced and has less proprietary crap on it that is, well, I would say poorly supported, but in my experience, not supported at all.

To hell with you Acer and Egis Tec! You've lost at least 6 computer sales from me and I'll make certain that no one else EVER makes the mistake of buying your unsupported garbage again. :mad2:
