eRecovery Management Installation??

Hello to you all,

I have a problem with installing eRecovery.I have downloaded installation file but it won't be installed without D2D System.Can't find this file anywhere on Acer download pages,can you help me please.

Can you also help me to locate hidden partition where win xp and Acer drivers are ,it should be someware on the hard disc right???Bought my Acer Aspire 5112 WLMi three months ago and it came with broken motherboard and memory,it started causing problems after 10 days modem and sound card would just stop working.I thought the drivers caused problems or I messed the Windows somehow so I reinstalled it a couple of times,wasn't aware of this hidden partition where Windows should be so I completely formated the hard disc and installed Windows Pro.I send it to Acer service later and got it back couple a days ago and now I am not shure if I have that hidden partition att all.Also I am not shure if a Back up image disk that I got with it when I bought it would work now at all?

Please help me with this questions,this is my first notebook and I am completely confused.Thanks !

 

If you have completely formatted the hard disk it is likely that you have wiped the PQservice partition which would have held the recovery data. You can check using the Computer Management console in Windows, it is located at Windows\system32\compmgmt.msc. Have a look at Disk Management in there and you should see what partitions you still have.

Acer eRecovery Management will not work without the default partition setup i.e. you need to have a D partition for it to run at all.

I've checked the partitions with Computer Management and there is no PQservice partition
I have C: and D: partition but it won't be installed.But again when I bought my Aspire there was only C: partition and eRecovery was working.I think D2D sistem file is what I have to install first and then install eRecovery,does anybody know where can I download this file??

Another question: I have Acronis True Image for backing up,do I need eRecovery at all?

 

if you have two partitions why u just don't move all the data you want to keep on the d: partition and reformat/re-install windows on c: partition?

You can download the necessary drivers from the website and then you can install all the acer software you want.

erecovery won't work but every time you have a problem you can make a clean installation of xp with drivers in the c partition, and it will be good a new...

 

You can acquire an oem copy of windows xp as previously stated by the user above me.

Another option you had was to use acronis 7 (which is FREE) to image your hdd after you get it configured the way you want. Personally this is the best method that I can think of for two reasons.

#1. I'm not tied to propritary software or oem partitions and management. This means I can save hdd space by wiping out the nasty D2D recovery and use my own software (Acronis)

#2. Windows XP when loaded from an OEM disk is better than any "recovery" option you find on oem hardware sold today. This is because you have updated drivers, missing "bloat" software such as AOL or other 3rd party software (dell and hp are notorious for this).

you have the choice to load the newest drivers, keep an NTFS partion with a 4k cluster, and load the software you want not what Acer wants for you.

This is why you don't need it
