I got an aspire 7720 that came with vista home premium but I want to install xp. This means all the software etc. will be wiped off and I will have to get it again. I heard that these Acers don't work without empowering technology and I dont want to wreck my laptop. Does anyone know if this is true? Got any advice for me aswell while your at it? Thanks

complete BS... see this link ... the 5315 is based on the same motherboard as the 7720,, so that guide will get you up and running... you will still need some extra drivers for the card reader, camera, and other extras your nice laptop has.... but i can help ya find those too!

the ACER LAUNCH MANAGER is the only thing that you even remotely need..
and the buttons work w/o launch manager, but the launchmanager is what does the ON SCREEN DISPLAY..

just download the LAUNCH MANAGER for VISTA... from all my reading and research... the LAUNCH MANAGER applications work for all 32 bit windows OS's.

what i refer to is the VOULME ||||||||||||||||| on screen display
    or WIFI ENABLED / DISABLED..

the green letters that show up at the bottom of the screen when you push the vol+ vol- BT or WIFI quick buttons that are either above or beside the keyboard depending on model.

if the VISTA versions do not work,,,, just un-install and then PM me or post a message in the 5315 upgrade sticky.
