Error code 204. Fails on verification at about 30%. Made 4 attempts all with same result.

Runninng Vista Home Premium SP2 on a Aspire notebook 5535-6826. Was plugged in at the time. Virus and malware scans are clean (Avira and Malwarebytes).

Emailed Acer tech support about it. Because the laptop is out of warranty my only option is to buy them for $19.95 and the tech marked my question as "solved". Thanks a lot acer. *rolls eyes*

Anyone ever come across this error? Searched the forum and didn't see anything...googling wasn't much help either. Found one site where it was suggested to turn off all power mgmt features, and run the mcafee removal tool, (comes with mcaffe preinstalled) which I tried. Same result.

    Thanks

Make sure you use quality media like Verbatim not some cheap stuff.

    This.

Had same issue on an older acer laptop and it turned out to be that the DVD-writer only liked high quality media. So I fed it some Taiyo Yuden media and it was as happy as it could ever be.
