I 've just bought an Acer ferrai 4005 and I am trying to read my SD memory card by putting it in the integrated SD card reader and windows aks to format the memory card. When I use a USB connection it is working fine.I've checked the driver and it is active.

Could someone tell me why I can not read the the SD card directly by the integrated SD card reader?

I can't tell you why it's happening, but try removing and re-installing the drivers...
When I got my F4005, the reader and the pcmcia wouldn't recognize anything... re-installing the driver (they're both on the same driver) fixed it right up...

Once I confirmed everything was working, I reformatted and installed XP64

iv got exactly the same problem.
iv had my ferrari 4005 for 2 months now, and everything was working fine, untill one day i had music running off and sd card in the reader, and i took the card out without stopping the music. now every time i insrt the card it asks for it to be formatted even though the card works fine anywhere else. iv tried installing and uninstalling the drivers dozens of times, iv even formatted and installed windows a few times since.
i havent reported this to acer yet, im waiting till after christmas, but i really dont want to send my lapotop off to acer to be fixed.

any help/feedback would be much appreciated.

    (p.s. windows x64 stinks :D )
