Hey all![]()
Just wanna know the diffs between these two :
acer ferrari 3000 priced at U$ 1950
and acer 803 and/or 804 series priced at over U$2000
Is the 800 series (centrino) more expensive becoz it's of a better quality than the ferrari ?
800 series = centrino, wireless b, radeon 9000 64 mb
ferrari = amd, wireless g, radeon 9200 128 mb
While on the subject on Centrino,
what about the fujitsu E4010 priced at U$ 2100
centrino, pentium M 1.6
512 MB , 60 GB, 15" sxga, dvd/cd-rw
And above all, which one should i get ?![]()
I'll be using autocad, 3dmax, photoshop, and no games at all![]()
on a general level, which one is a better laptop ?
thanks

The price difference is most likely in the CPU, just like in desktops AMD's are cheaper than Intel CPUs normally by a $50-100. You may also be paying a small premium for the centrino labelling. As for quality I think you will find both to be excellent.
In terms of which one is better. For what you want I would hazard a guess and say go with the 800. At least in the desktop CPU world Intel is better at 3dmax, autocad type stuff, AMD at games. Im assuming this is the same in mobiles. The only real diff. between the GPUs is the memory from what I can tell the 9000 is the same performace wise as the 9200, so this shouldnt really effect you to much.
The only advantage the ferrari has is it looks good, is cheaper, and has wireless g.
But for what you want I would say the 800 series.
Cant comment on the fujitsu, but they have been getting some v.favourable reviews, and are ment to be great machines.
Hope this has helped.

Hi sloane!
The biggest difference between the two is that the 800 is a business notebook while the 3000 is a consumer notebook. They have different missions and are aimed at different types of users. Key differences:
1. The 800 is about a pound lighter than the 3000.
2. Because of its Pentium M processor, the 800 will yield at least 1-2 hours more of battery life (regular usage, no gaming or DVD) than the 3000.
3. The 3000 is much newer than the 800, which explains the reason for the lack of Wi-Fi 802.11g in the 800 (even as an option).
4. The 800 is conservatively-styled - elegant and stylish. The 3000 features much more racy styling. Silver vs. red.
5. XP Home for the 3000, XP Pro for the 800.
6. 3-year warranty for the 800, 1-year for the 3000.
7. Bluetooth: 3000 yes, 800 no.
8. Modular drive bay for the 800, fixed for the 3000 - you can a 2nd battery to the 800.
In terms of performance, particularly raw processing power, these two should be comparable - PM 1.6/1.7GHz vs. XP-M 2500+.
As you can see, these two notebooks are very different - it shouldn't be hard to decide between the two.
BTW, ignore the whole Centrino label. Just focus on the Pentium M. I'm not familiar with that Fujitsu model. You should ask about it in the Fujitsu board.
