For the first question, I think only the system partition is affected, nothing else because usually the problems pertaining the OS are on the partition where the OS is.

If you want the latest nvidia drivers, go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and download the drivers from there.
You will also have to download the modded inf file and replace the one in the setup file (check the QuickStart guide for more help in this area).

One other thing ... if you got Acer Aspire 5930G, then the 9600M GT is GDDR3.
Use Gpu-Z to check your gpu stats.
If the memory is running at 800MhZ, it's GDDR3 (as it should be for this particular model).

Keep in mind, though, that if you use a driver with a modded INF, you won't have WHQL certification on that driver - thus, you will lose the ability to watch Blu-ray movies if you have a BD-ROM drive.
If you want to keep Blu-ray functionality, use an Acer driver from LaptopVideo2Go - either 174.51, 175.61, or 176.37.

These models don't have a blue-ray drives so it doesn't matter.

Here is the link to the 5930 model. I don't know how it is different then the "G" model but you should be able to find some or all of your drivers there.
