I happened to be in Buffalo yesterday because of work and while I was there I did some shopping before coming back. First I went to CompUSA and picked up a 1G USB jump drive that will cost me about US$70 after I take advantage of the rebate. The jump drive will allow me to transfer my files and programs from my desktop to my laptop and vice versa. Then I visited a circuit city store and bought a 512MB of DDR memory (333Mhz) for the laptop. That cost me US$140 before the US$25 dollar rebate that I will send in later.

I installed the ram earlier tonight and all is well. I now have 768MB of ram in my 1681 and one of the 256MB of memory is stored in the packaging.

For comparsion a 1G USB jump drive here in Canada goes for around C$140 and the 512MB of ram is around C$200. I scored pretty good getting this stuff in the US.
