    More input please
What are you trying to do? Dual-boot? Create a separate partition for personal files?
Theoretically any HDD can be partitioned. In reality, it's easy to make a mess of things, especially when the manufacturers create four primary partitions, proprietary MBR's and BIOS, etc.

I don't know for sure, but would say that you'd do well to make sure you can find Vista drivers for the specific parts inside your laptop before doing anything drastic.
Say, for instance, you can find vista drivers at motherboard website or Acer website for the exact motherboard, drivers for wireless card, touchpad, etc. etc. it oughta work.
I'd make darn sure you could restore to factory default (by imaging the drive or having recovery discs or popping in a blank HDD or whatever) because there are too many things that could go wrong.

Oh, sorry, for some reason I thought you had a genuine Windows vista CD. Sent you a PM.
