    Hi to all!
So I pressed my old Extensa 4420 back into service and loaded it up with Win7. After some struggle I got everything working perfectly..except for the Freeze after startup.
Startup goes well. After the desktop comes up, sometimes I can move the mouse but nothing responds...or maybe something will respond but freezes right after the program opens. If the mouse canmove, I can usually do a CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task MGr screen. I don't even need to start the task mgr...just hit CANCEL and the desktop comes up and all is OK for the rest of the session.
If the mouse cannot move, then I need to pull the power cable and pull the battery to shut down. After I restart, everything works fine.

If the computer is off more than a coupelk of hours, I need to go through the whole thing again....every day.

I downloaded and ran Hijack This but I cannpot read the logs so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreicated!

    Acer Extensa 4420
    Win 7 32 Bit
No games or anything unusual installed
Avira antivirus (but I've used this for many years on all my laptops)

    Thanks!

Did you wait to see how long it would take to unfreeze? Maybe something is missing and the computer is searching to find a driver. If you can wait until it settles down then you may be able to check event logs (in Administrative Tools) to see if Windows will log the issue.
