because this model only has 256mb of ram, i ordered a 1gig sodimm
just before the day i had to confirm the order, i decided to take a look inside and see how easily i can insert the memory. i removed the middle cover and it looked pretty easy. i even saw an empty mini-pci slot so i put in a wireless mini pci card i got from a larger pci wireless card. i put it in, put the cover back and start the thing to see if it works. windows boots, wireless lan activity led is red, but the wireless lan works.
after that i took the card out since it wasn't mine and remembered the laptop was getting hotter than usual and since i already opened the middle cover, why not take a look at the dust at the left cover?
so i opened it, unscrewed the little black screws the hold that little metal cover above the cooler and i dropped one somewhere around here
and it sparked... yup... stupid me... i forgot to take the BATTERY out
i picked the screw up, removed the battery, removed the dust around the cooler, and then put everything back together
now, when i plug in the charger, no led on the laptop lights up as it's supposed to, and the charger led looks almost off but if i look closer it lights on and off really fast (only when i plug it in to the laptop).
it's the same with or without the battery inside
needless to say, the laptop doesn't start (no fan activity, no lights, dead)
i know the motherboard is fried somewhere around that area, and i know that parts can't be easily replaced, but does anyone have any idea about what can it be? i took it to the shop but they didn't even know how to open the case.. so instead of having them ripping me off for nothing i called some dude but he won't get here very soon, so i decided to ask around here
thanks

Well, when parts spark on a mobo that usually means the entire motherboard is going to need to be replaced. There is not really a good way to determine what all you just fried. It might have only been two small parts (aka what sparked), or a lot more depending on what those two parts were and what they were connected to.
