    Hi wondered if anyone could help i bought a acer gemstone 5920G M laptop a couple of years ago and the graphic card has blown up had someone look at it and he told me to buy a new graphic card to replace the blown one.
    The card i need is a Nvidia 8600M GS 512 meg version im finding it difficult to find this card does anyone know of any companies that could help me out . i did manage to speak to one company and they said they were out of stock but they told me i could use an nvidia 8600M GT card instead does anyone know if this is possable i thought i read somewhere you could not use this card any help or info would be very helpful

    Is your GPU removable?

    Maybe check on ebay.

    cool had a look on e-bay seems there is a few on there just out of interest how can i tell with graphics card are for desktops and which are for laptops

    If you don't play games, get a HD3650 either with 512 DDR2 or 256 DDR3 (although, it's still pretty good GPU for games, HD3650 512 DDR2 is on par with your GS, even a tad better). This way you'll avoid shopping for new GPU after a year or two at best (nVIDIA 8xxx are faulty) :) If you play, you can search for HD4650 DDR2, or you can wait a while, because there is a rumor that mxm-upgrade would be selling HD4670 soon :)
