    hard drive icon keeps blinking

    ok just got this new laptop days ago, and the blue hdd icon keeps blinking even with no programs running. also the fan keeps running on and off once every 20 seconds. is this normal?

    Yes it's normal. Whole lot of programs are running- probably about 50 Windows processes and they use HDD. Fan also starts periodically- it's OK.
