Pentium M CPU's offer the greatest battery life currently. On an 8 cell battery and a Pentium M, you can get upto 4-5hrs of battery life (depends on power management settings). A P4 CPU w/HT will give you approx 1.5-2.5hrs of battery life on an 8 cell battery.

Computing power, the P4's will give you the greater raw computing power vs a Pentium M, but the Pentium M's will outperform a P4 in business applications (Office). The Pentium M's are designed to perform more operations per seconds vs a similarly clocked P4. Since it does more work in a shorter period of time, the CPU's don't have to be clocked so high and therefore run cooler. Since it runs cooler, the units don't need huge cooling systems and therefore are thinner and lighter than a P4 system.

I am looking at purchasing the ACER AS1414 WLCI notebook. But I don't know what the difference is for the processing speed I have been told not to get anything under 1.2GHZ, but this notepad is listed as Intel Celeron M350, can someone tell me if the M350 is equal to at least a 1.2GHZ. Also does anyone have a comments on this specific notepad.
    Thank you

On the Acer website, it says it is 1.3 GHz..

    here are the other stats:

    Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition; Intel® Celeron® M Processor 350 (1.30GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB); 512MB (256/256) DDR333 SDRAM; 40GB hard drive; integrated CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive; 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) TFT display with Acer® Crystal Bright Technology; Intel® 855GME chipset with integrated graphics; 802.11b/g WLAN, 10/100 LAN, V.92 modem

edit: just realized it was at the Acer Canada site, not sure if where you are the specs are the same..

Thank you for you reply, and i'm in Canada so that's great. So I should be fine, since it at least 1.2GHZ. Do you know anything about this specific notebook?

The Acer site doesnt give much but what I've posted from there...

Try checking out Acer resellers or Notebook stores...

If you live in Ontario there are a few notebook stores in the Toronto Area
