    Hi guys,

being newbie here, I need to ask some questions, does anybody know:

    - I got my TM8104 today, pretty nice machine, but when I was opening the box, I was little bit confused as I saw all the seals were doubled. One on each other. It means, the blank Acer seal that keeps the box together, than the blue one and than agan the blank and the blue. The same on the internal box. But all the manufacturer shipping infos and stuff were abov on all those seals. I just wanted to ask do you think it was a customer return before? Or is it standard procedure? Or once it comes from China or wherevrer it is produced it is open to add or check stuff?

    - The second thing is about the noises my new lovely TM produces It is like a tiny high pitch squeeky sound, I know it so well from my TM 803, but this is more constant and intense. Is that usual?

    - The "inside" of the card reader looks little bit unfitting the chasis ( it is like twisted one and half milimeter) but it takes xDs perfectly, I have not had the chance of MMCs and SDs. Might this be a considerable problem?

I might look picky, but this new baby is such a great piece of notebook, that I would liek to enjoy it fully, well, you guys know what I mean! :)

Hope for soon respons from anybody who has this TM already!

    Tom

It does seem like a returned item.
Someone has cut through previous seals and put fresh ones.
The noise and ill-fit adds to the suspicion.

Just return it and don't suffer heartburns. You paid in full
and don't have suffer this [V]

    Well,

I do not know, as the notebook was untouched when I opened it! Not a fingertip on it, plus the sound is like from my old 803 just mor enoticeable, maybe the new processor? It i sdifficult for me to return it I am on my way out of country within next days.

May be the double seal be also like standard procedure? I mean it looked like fresh, just doubled, everything packed like brand new...

The refurbishing departments know how to re-pack laptops.
You won't notice the difference.[ ;)]

Return it or you will always suffer self-doubts [ :(]

    Got ya, but

the only think that made me dissapointed was the double sealing. And they will take 15 percent restocking fee I think...that is not the best deal on laptop for 2200 USD[ :(] Anyway, it is working it is brand new and it really has no finger tips[:I] plus there has been such a demand on these, that ther ewould be barely somebody retutning it for just some cosmetic thing. It also comes with international travellers warranty, so...

Just thought that even the sticker with the factory shipping from China to the USA was over this double layers.. Nothing else suspicious. Just am not sure wheher the "ambient sound" of CPU resp HDD, I mean when the unit is on should be so noticeable? Acer users know what I mean.

    Ufff[ :D]

well, just spoke to the reseller and they ensured me that was a spankin new unit double sealed for the protection during the transports by truck etc. Makes sense. After few hours of usage the noises are pretty OK, it also takes a while until everythign settles down[8D]As far as the card reader goes, it reads all the cards I have tried so far, it might be cosmetical thing. [ :p] Anyway, the world warranty coverage is great thing for it!

So Acer Travel Mate 8104 rocks! I love that crispy display, maybe little bit silent maximum sound output, but... very elegant and high output notebook!

    Congrats.
You should always be happy with your purchase.
You are one the few lucky owners of the 8104.
    Enjoy it.
