G'day all, after a repair manual for a acer aspire 1650Z.

Having Major Problem with laptop ...

    Symptoms:

Computer Turns on power lights come on, dvd hdd lights come on.
Can hear fan spinning normaly, but thats it.

    No Beeps, no video.

tried plugging in external monitor but nothing.

I think my motherboard might be dead.
Can't see any noticable defects on the board eg blown capicitors etc.

Have tested cpu on other laptop, its OK.
haven't tested ram as its ddr2 not the same as other laptop has ddr.

Hope someone can help, ever with a repair manual or a refurbish motherboard for this laptop.

    Thanks All
    Macka

just out of interest what graphics chip does it have?

In the meantime you could try swapping out some RAM... i.e. Removing one stick if you have two or simply just reseating the memory.

    G'day All,

    Very long time no reply.

Your not going to believe this, happen to find this laptop again in adraw in the back room.
Pulled it apart and started reseearching the internet & wah lah found this thread.

Don't remember even working on this one before.

    LOL

So here I am again, in disbelief... lol

Same problem as at start, but this time I reckon Ive got a stick of ddr2 lying around somewhere.
So will give this ago soon.

(Gods knows what lying around in this backroom, I know I don't)
My memory must be getting bad in me old age.

So yeh after nearly a year away from last post, thought id answer the last Question asked.
The chip is a ATI but I'll need a bloody magnifying glass to read the rest.

The graphics chip is probably smoked then, they tend to cook themselves over time and just give up the ghost
