the laptop doesnt start windows, all i can see is the first screen from acer where it says that if i want to press F2 for options and then a black screen appears and nothing happens, i tried pressing F8 and then safe mode but everything starts to load but it allways stop in an archive mvp.sys. Tried the last know good configuration and its just shows the black screen nothing happens.Any help i dont know what else to do.

The last time i turned on the laptop, i saw a popup from NOD32 like if it found a virus and then i had a blue screen, and thats it since then i cant start windows, that was yesterday and i dont see how can that happen cause i had the laptop off and i just turned it on at night and that happened, i didnt use the laptop at all, how did the virus infected the laptop.

try Alt+F10 non destructive recovery, this will repair windows if it can without formatting the HDD.
but at least you burnt the recovery disks before it all went wrong, wise move :D
Alt+F10 at splash screen then tap the R key.

you need to try using the cd as this gives you the repair option but you need to set the bios to Boot from cd/dvd.

if you have the disks from acer you get the option to repair windows this checks your windows file and replaces any missing sections of the os.
if you put the bootable disk in and restart you will get this option or you are asked to put disk 1-2 in the drive.
you also get the option to abort so do panic.
but you may have a virus and the only way out of that is to format C: drive.
do you also have a D: partition ?
if so use this to store your work, as this is left alone when you reinstall windows.
ive done the fresh install and D: wasn't touched :D

before the error happened i converted the partitions to NTFS but now the D: partition is a Type 1F and i used partition magic, now that im using partition magic it only says that i can format that partition type 1F and that will erase everything i have in that partition, what can i do now. And the partition C: is now FAT32 again, WTF i thought i will have the partittions in NTFS.
