Hi. I want to preface this post by stating that I am not super savvy when it comes to computers. I hold my own with most programs and can do general maintenance. But reading these threads taught me that I am by no means “geek” worthy.

That said, I purchased an Acer Aspire 5720 in February of this year and have had no problems until now. It has the Intel Pentium Dual Core and its operating system is Vista Home Premium. It is our home computer, used mainly for e-mail and entertainment.

Last week, my husband and I were watching a movie through Netflix, when it slowed way down. My husband then closed all programs and performed a disc cleanup. He restarted the computer, and after it restarted, it froze. He tried ctrl/alt/del and then turned it off using the power button. It will not turn on now.

When the power button is pushed (with the battery in and the ac plugged in) it lights up and the fan starts. About 5 seconds later, it just stops running. I tried to follow what I was reading; took out the battery, held fn/esc, connected ac and pushed the power button. I got the fan for maybe 3 seconds but no lights.

When we purchased this laptop, we also bought the fix anything warranty from Office Max, so we have the option to send it in and get it fixed. But I am wondering if any of you with infinitely more computer knowledge than I can help me with this first. Thank you in advance for your responses.

best thing to do is to send it back for complete repair....warranty is worth more than reapairing by yourself....just send it back for assurance...that's the best way..

I agree...If you have the warranty it doesn't make sense fiddling with it.

Send it in and let them fix it after all you did pay extra for the warranty. :)
