I am currently using an acrer aspire 2930z. It comes with two HDD, both of which have 111GB each. I am only using 1 HDD at the moment which is only around 52percent full. I want to move all my movies, music and games to my other empty one, (we'll call drive D)but when I do this my drive D only opens up as a folder. Itries to mark this HDD as active, but get a maessage telling me that if drive D has no OS installed on it, it could stop my comp from working. What I would like to know is...... Does this drive come with vista already installed? And if not, how do I go about doing this? Any help would be very much welcomed.

P.s this is only to save me buying an external drive, (which is probably the better option), but with this extra space on my laptop it would be handy to use.

    many thanks in advance.

    Tallanvor.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Nice laptop, my wife has the 2920 and it is a really nice small laptop.
So, you don't have two HDDs but one 250GB hard drive split in two partitions, C and D. I don't understand why you get that message and why ''it tries to mark that drive as active''. Having two partitions is very convenient if you want to separate Data with programs and OS. Your 2930z laptop is too small to have two hard drives. Your second partition D drive has no OS by the way. The OS is in the first partition, C Drive. What you can do is to make a folder in the D partition and name it Movies or Videos or Music and then copy your movies or videos or music and paste them in that folder. When the copy has finished, you can delete the files from the C drive to save some space.

Thankyou very much for the reply nklive. Much appreciated. Although I did try this before, and my useage for my C drive was still the same after moving aroung 7 or 8G of data onto drive D. Should this not have been reflective in the transition to D?
