My laptop has amd dual core turion x64, when I run the dashboard shows me that is running at 50%, that is 800Mhz, how can I run it at full speed, 1.6Ghz, or it does it automatically when it needs more?

The processor will automatically run at the full 1.6 GHz, when it feels the work it needs to do, can be donw faster. Running at 800 MHz also reduces its power consumption and also, produces less heat. If you want to run it at its full speed, then I think you can do that by selecting "Always On" from the Power Schemes in Windows. This normally works on Core Duo/Core 2 Duo processors, so it should work for the Turion/Turion X2.

thanks for the quick reply.
By default my sister's laptop was configured so that the max performance power profile had the processor only going at half speed.
It makes perfect sense to slow things down when doing simple tasks, and running on battery, but i think full power should yield full power. -

There will be no difference between 800 MHz and 1.6 GHz if you are surfing the Internet or word processing. However, if you want to play a game, then there will be a massive difference. The processer will automaticaly clock to 1.6 GHz, and will run at full speed.
