    lookin for a laptop for uni but also for gaming
    i want to buy from australia..i've looked at an acer 1693 wlmi or a dell 1 with similar configuration

    wanna know how is acer as a brand...i really like this offer ont he acer...but many people i spoke to are like why acer...go for dell or some other 1....wanna know how good acer is...is it reliable and how is their customer care and replacements etc coz many ppl have said that acer isnt all that good and quite a few here havnt even heard of it

    Acer is a very fine brand, one I would ahve no problem buying. They're also one of the largest in the world.

    Yeah, they are good, unknown or have some bad rep in many markets but they offer pretty good laptops at attractive prices. I would put them in the same quality level as Dell. Support differs from country to country, so I have no idea how good/bad they are in Aus.

    From my experience I would put them above Dell in terms of quality control & support at least here in the US.

    I recommend that you visit a computer shop instead of a big retailer like myer, as they are usually more expensive.

    After discussing with some friend working in IT and specifically on laptops in taiwan, Acer is considered to be a descent brand in Taiwan. Their support is not close to Asus there though. Quality and design still remains behind their competition in Taiwan: Toshiba, IBM and Asus. The word is out that at least quality control is being greatly improved. :asus:

    cant visit as shop coz i'm in india...my relaative will be buying it for me...can any1 recommend any shops in australia which would give it the cheapest...or maybe some other website???

    so what do u suggest...acer 1693 or dell 6000

    getting a good deal ont he acer from www.notebooks.com.au ......what do u think??
