    Perhaps booting into safe mode?

I've had this issue before. If I started by deleting all the files in the last subfolder, then deleting that folder, then deleting all the files in the parent file and so on up to the main one, I can usually get rid of anything.

Or you could try System Security Suite. A freeware app that cleans up stuff (like cache, browser history, cookies, temp files, etc.) but also lets you specify folders. It's very handy and does a good job. I've used it for a couple of years on Windows and it works very well. You can get it here:

Sounds like your drive is messed up, I'd schedule the Disk Checker to run.

Right click on the drive letter, (from any explorer window) click the properties button, then the Tools Tab, and then Error Checking. From the characters of the file names, it looks to me like your hard drive has had an error somewhere.

Just remember, because the drive got messed up, it MAY have deleted other things too!

My advice now, backup all your stuff and do a re-install.

Perhaps you have 10gb of stuff in the recycle bin?

Try running the disk cleanup wizard and see what that says.

Yes you need to run the disk cleanup wizard. You also might want to consider moving your docs, music, pics, vids to a flash drive to clear up space.

You should also check your settings for how much disk space is reserved for the recycle bin's use and for system restore's use. A lot of times these are set high (as in several GBs).

    i don't think this
1-i run disk clean up and clean everything including the recycle bin
2-i check system restore and it's said that it takes only 2gb i need this really that's ok for me
all music, docs, videos, images and also games located on d:
C: is only for widows files and programmes
    that's for i resize C: to 20gb only and D: for 95gb
is there another solutions please i don't want to reformat c:

Yellow11 brings up a good point. Alas, that site has not been updated since IE5. So here's some additional clean up thoughts.

    1. Clear your browser cache, history, and cookies. Regardless of what browser your using.
    2. If you're using Firefox, be sure to cleanup the download history.
    3. A lot of log files can get huge. Especially ZoneAlarm. Somewhere in the options for ZA is a box to clean out the log.
    4. Have you emptied your recycle bin?
    5. Have you ever had McAfee or Norton installed? (I removed Mcafee's internet suite nearly a year ago. I thought I got everything. There were nearly 2GB of files of email that it's spam filter kept in folders. My email that it had marked as spam or not spam, all of which had been deleted by me from Outlook months ago (and folders compressed).)

Without knowing how you use your computer or what kind of clean up tasks you do, it's hard to give any really solid guidance.

For example, if you download and try a lot of programs and just use add/remove to delete them, a lot of files can be left behind. WinXP is much better about getting most of the stuff, but not always.

Or, if you use MS Office and have the option to save a backup set, you can soon have 100s or 1,000s of backup files. You can do a search for *.bak. That will find most of them, I believe.

Or, if you play a lot of games (or have different characters within a single game), those files can become huge.

So, and I mean this really politely, if you think about it, what types of programs do you think are most likely junking up your hard drive?

If you're not sure, you can try an app like this one: http://www.jam-software.com/products/hard_drive_clean_up/index.html

It appears to be free to try and will give you a visual of files and the amount of space they are taking up.

Also, do a search for *.tmp files and delete them.

Then search for temp folders and delete all the contents in them.
