there should be a cd that comes with the computer that has the software on it. as for installing xp pro i don't think you need to unistall home, which means you will have a dual boot system. i am assuming it is not that hard but have no idea

The Aspire 5672 doesn't come with a CD/DVD. You can use eRecovery program to burn a recovery DVD (which is essentially an image of the hidden recovery partition). I highly recommend making that DVD before you do ANYTHING to your windows partition or operating system. It's well worth the half an hour(or more, it varies) that you spend on it.

Now after you are finished with stuffing the recovery DVD safe somewhere, you can sum up the courage to do whatever. Steps for reinstalling are as follows:-

    1) Non-dual boot scenario.

    a) Shut down/Restart your notebook and pop in the DVD.
    b) Hit F2 to go into the BIOS. Hit the right arrow till you get to the "boot" section, and change the boot order using F5 and F6 (or was it F5 and F4?) so that the Matshita DVD-RAM is on the top of the list. Hit F10, and when it asks you to save settings, say yes.
    c) The notebook will restart and it'll start booting from the DVD. Follow the on-screen instructions till it asks you where you want to install windows. Say C:. It might argue by saying that there is already a windows installed. Say you don't mind and tell it to format and convert partition to NTFS.
    d) That's all there is to it. If for some reason everything doesn't work, go to www.acerpanam.com and download the respective drivers

    w00t, you're up and running!

    2) Dual-boot Scenario

    a) Follow steps a to c, just as before. But when it asks you where to install, point it to D:. Again, tell it to format and convert to NTFS.
    b) Follow step d. :)p)

Hope that helped. Feel free to ask more questions :)
