    How old is your machine?

Have you tried it in another outlet in the wall (the power adapter that is)?

check if your battery is on the recall list.
my first acer battery died completely after i didnt use it for about 1 year. lucky it was on the recall list.

    1. Make sure the adapter you've borrowed is compatible. Yeah you've got from another Acer but that doesn't necesseraly mean it's compatible(except, of course, your frind has the same model )
    2. Try to remove the battery for a half an hour or so then put it back in.
