you herd about the complaint filed by amd against intel for manopolizing the market and paying oems not to use amd processors well i think thats what has happend with this line of laptops in america, intel have already done it with other acer laptop lines where intel chiosets and processors are used exclusivly. intel is payng acer off.

read amds full complaint at AMD BreakFree is not a boring read full of legal jargon either its quite interesting its 44 pgs long though, im now about half way through it.

Not really suprised. Microsoft will give windows away for free when linux becomes a threat, if that ever happens. Unfortunately Linux is too much of a pain in the back side to get most non-in the box apps working and ill leave it there.

Well, I bought the "american" version of the 5024, the Acer 4400. It has pretty much the same specs, except it has a 64mb x700. I have no problems in my games, works fine at xga or native wxga res.

So, not that we really need the 5020, just it would be nice to have more options. BTW, how much did you pay for the 5024?
    I paid 1269 USD for my 4402WLMi.

it has a 100 GB 4200 rpm hd

i paid £889 but im sorry i dont know the conversion rate. however things are Comparatively cheaper in the states so i expect i paid more 'Comparatively'
take a look at fule prices.

ps the gpu isnt the only thing that has a slightliy lower spec than in the 'american version' the cpu isnt as powerful as well
