Hello my name is Kristi Phillips... I'm hoping somebody will have some answers for me my dad has a Acer Aspire2 and while nobody will admit there is anything spilled on the rubber keys my dads a an answer keys are stuck... when he gets the A button it just keeps repeating AAA and is stuck and the ENTER button when he tries to push enter it doesn't do anything because it is stuck how do you get sticky substances out from the rubber keys without damaging the computer... if anybody has any suggestions please get back to me ASAP or you can email me at [email protected]... I live in Florida and my dad lives in Arizona so I'm trying to do all this research for him and for it not to cause him any money because he doesn't have any but does not want to throw away the computer just because a couple buttons don't work... somebody anybody please help us give us some suggestions to unstick these couple of buttons! Thx

What's the exact model number- it's probably not "Acer Aspire2".
It would be helpful to know if we can simply replace the keyboard with a new one for $15-20 or is it more demanding.

And I apologize for that it is an Acer Aspire One the model number is d 255 2301.... and my dad cannot figure out how to get the rubber keys off of the computer to even try to clean it or replace it... and he's really trying not to take it into a computer store and pay a fortune that he doesn't have.. but my dad does not have a smartphone so this little laptop is the only thing he has to get online with and I'm really trying to help him figure out how to fix this

So it looks like this, right?

The keyboard is cheap ( $15) and relatively easy to replace.

While this video is not for the exact same Aspire one it should work like this on you father's unit too.

What do you mean does it look like this if you sent me anything I'm not sure I got it but I guess I'm going to have to just look up the Acer Aspire and see how to go about replacing the rubber keys

I think you might have saved him hundreds of dollars I'm trying to get it fixed or buy a new one

Wait wait I do have another question if he takes the keypad of like the directions say on that video... Since its only two buttons that are sticky and we're pretty sure that something was built on it what if you soak that keypad and high alcohol content wouldn't clean it off and wouldn't damage it... Or should I just have him spend the money and buy a new keypad

I would just replace the whole keyboard - it's cheap but it's also easier to do than taking separate keys off cleaning and putting them on.
