Hi,

Is there any way to increase the screen resolution on a 2012WLMi (higher than 1280 x 800)? I can do that, but then my desktop doesn't fit on the screen anymore. It's too big, and I need to "push" the screen around.

Example:

-----------------------
| ----------------- |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| ----------------- |
-----------------------

The outer rectangle is the desktop displayed, the inner rectangle is my actual screen.
I hope you understand!

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Tjeez

Sorry, but you cant increase the resolution of a laptop screen the way you can with a 'box' monitor.

The laptop screen only has a fixed number of pixels (the dots that light up) and so it has a native resolution. There is no way to increase the number of pixels in the screen, so you cant increase the resolution.

If you do, some of the desktop will just no longer fit on the screen, as the laptop can only display a portion of that resolution with the pixels it has.

Hope that makes sense (I barely know what im talking about).

Ok, I understand. But how comes that it is possible with a regular TFT monitor? Isn't that the same kind of hardware? Or for instance, the HP NX7010 notebook (also widescreen) has a higher resolution. Actually, I thought it had something to do with the video card.

Anyway, thanks for the reply!

As jabber wock said with LCD screens have fixed number of pixels and you cant go above that if you do it wont fit the whole screen and have to pan around

The Nx7010 LCD might be higher resolution LCD screen ie SXGA or SXGA+

LCD screens are always advertised by there maximum resultion so if you LCD says its WXGA then you cant go above (1280x800) with out panning
