search the NBR FORUM SEARCH for
SOULPASS XP SATA install that will take care of all your problems... and most of the drivers there will work for you as well -
ok thanks . i'll give it a read .
-
ok i have read a bit and most concerns the aspire 5315 . anyone knows where i can get drivers for the 5715z , for xp ?
thanks -
drivers are the same... i know you have a few devices that aren't listed on that site..
just get that procedure completed and get those drivers working then we can point you to the other drivers you need -
xp has been installed on laptop . only drivers i had to search for was for the modem . had to use the ambit ones . thanks .
one thing though , i have been reading on that link you provided overheating issues with xp if you let the laptop enter standby mode so i have disabled standby . i have read a bit but i'm confused . this is a problem for some people and not for others . can i have your advice on this issue . thanks -
the OVER HEATING ISSUE is resolved by updating the BIOS to 1.33 or higher
-
ok thanks i'll update to 1.43 . one final thing , bios updates are only available for vista . can i use them on xp to flash within xp ? thanks
-
doesn't matter VISTA bios are going to work w/ XP
trust me... i wondered the same thing once... turns out the difference is a VISTA BIOS has special little section with VISTA SPECIFIC info and as it turns out that VISTA DATA isn't even looked at by XP... so any VISTA BIOS should work fine with the XP OS -
ok got it . once again thanks
-
no problem... i've been running XP for 8 months now... it's the only way to go.. and if you have trouble w/ finding drivers let me know
but i don't anticipate you having any problem... just follow the guide at SOULPASS.... follow it exactly... don't try to add SP3 or anything else...
just do what we know works. -
hmm . sp3 already added . anything i should be aware of ? haven't noticed anything weird
-
well some people have had problems getting audio to install correctly after SP3.... that's why they say to install audio driver FIRST....
unless they changed that part of the GUIDE when they revised it...
too bad i didn't save a copy of the old guide,, but i didn't forsee them chaning it....
it may work fine now... but back in the first days of SP3 everyone was trying slipstream everything they could,, as best i recall the only issue was AUDIO problems but by downloading and installing the REALTEK driver 2.00 or what ever the newest version is might get you around the hastle -
then i think that i accidently followed the correct procedure .
i had a winxp sp2 disc with sata drivers slipstreamed . after installing winxp i install drivers in the order provided by soulpass . then i windows updated sp3 and additional updates -
sounds like all is good..... does that mean that you have XP up and running??

thanks -
page won't load right now
i'll post later -
Vista BIOS works just fine for Xp. Afaik the reason they are called "Vista Bios files" is that they are able to "read/hold" info reggarding DMI data, such as Manufacurer Name, Product Name, Serial Number, UUID String and Asset Tag, used for Vista installation/activation, totally useless for xp, which just "ignores" the existence of that info.
Hope it helps, kind regards! -
ok thanks for the info . bios updated .
once again thanks
