    Hi,

Everything about this laptop is awesome, except the plastic quality and screen. Don't care about plastic, but better res screen would be awesome...

I'm thinking to buy external monitor for demanding photo editing work, but I'm afraid 1366 x 768 will look disgusting versus my current hp 1900*1200(16").

I'm a web developer / so more code on screen is always better. I never used anything below 1400.

Any thoughts on upgrade? is it possible just to buy higher res panel and substitute OM?

    Thanks!

You need to find a compatible dual-channel LVDS cable and then yeah sure you can put a 1080p panel in it.

Dual LVDS is not necessarily supported though. Many Acer notebooks that were never intended to be sold with Full HD panels can't be upgraded regardless of the cable- simply half of the signal is missing.
I would assume that 5750 doesn't support dual LVDS in the same way 5740, 5741 and 5745 didn't.

You'd have to verify that but I think single LVDS supports resolutions up to and including 1400x900.

All 1400x900 panels I've seen so far required dual-LVDS.

I also own the acer aspire 5750G with this awfull screen! I am trying to find a screen replacement with higher resolution and a better panel (maybe IPS ? ) with wider angles, but cannot find any information for the connector type. The screen model of the acer 5750G is LP156WH2(TL)(R1). I found on ebay a lot of LP156WH2 screens but I dont know what (TL) and (R1) means for my screen.
Can anyone give me some help here?
    thanks :)

The LP156WH2 is single-LVDS. The suffix is like a revision number - different suffixes are drop-in compatible, though they may have different optical characteristics (e.g. LP154WU1-TLC1 is matte, while -TLA2 is glossy; and -TLB1 is a crippled version with a 200:1 contrast ratio & 25ms response time, as opposed to the 500:1 contrast & 16ms response time of most WU1s).

thanks for the information! Do you know if any 40 pin LED 15.6 screen (with same resolution) will work in my laptop? or is something more that I must look? can you find me some compatible screens with same resolution (1366x768) or better? I hope there is at least one compatible RGB-LED screen for my laptop :D
