im planning to get Acer TimelineX AS4820TG as my new laptop and microcenter.com has two models. The only difference between them is that the 800 dollar one has i3-350M processor with 320GB HDD while the 900 dollar one has i5-450M processor with 500GB HDD. is the i5 processor worth paying extra 100 bucks?

Everyone is going to have a different opinion but I'll throw mine in.

    i3-350M vs. i5-450M
    320GB vs. 500GB

Yes, it's worth the extra $100.

    Cheers,
    Kermee

I3 has a thermal ceiling of 90C. The I5 can run to 105C. The chances of the I5 throtling are far less.

Also, the i5 can self-overclock to boost the performance of single-core activities.
    Go for it.
