    hi guys. somes keys are not working on my acer aspire laptop, i have fitted a new keypad but still have the same problem. i have reloaded windows software. can i use a separate keyboard for a cheap option?

    If I understand you are saying random keys do not work? Have you checked the connection for corrosion? Try to clean it with rubbing alcohol.

    I had this problem in an old dell inspiron 7000... I ended up cleaning the keyboard connection every year or so, but that was in a very high humidity environment.

    hi . thank you for your reply good thought. do you know if a external keyboard will work if keyboard controller is faulty.

    If a key is stuck down or something, you would have to unplug the ribbon cable to keep the keystrokes from interfering with your external keyboard. Other than that I don't see any reason why the external keyboard wouldn't work :p
