Hello folks, hopefully someone here can help me.
I have an Aspire 5670. In the past month or so I have noticed that when I tell the computer to go into standby mode, it would but then a few hours later I would come back and it was no longer in standby mode.
Same thing started happening with Hibernate mode.
Just a few days ago, Hibernate mode stopped working entirely and instead when you tell the notebook to hibernate it just goes into standby mode.
I called Acer tech support and they blamed it on Windows and said that I probably updated with a patch from Microsoft that introduced the issue.
So what can I do to fix it besides reinstalling Windows??

Make sure that hibernation is still enabled (under the power properties) and that you have enough space (~ RAM size) for the hibernation file. I use hibernation all the time with very few problems, but I never trust standby. I hibernating computer is off until you press the power button to turn it on.

erm,
it might be due to the Windows XP Stanby problem.

or the Windows XP USB 2.0 problem.
