Was looking at newegg and saw these two processors.

    Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 2.53GHz Socket P 25W
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz Socket P 35W

Just wondering what the difference is between a "P" model and a "T" model are??

    thanks

    Intels Specifications:

    P9500

    T9400

Basically, spec wise exactly the same, so doing tasks they should be the same.

Where you should a difference is in heat and battery life. for which the P9500 will be better, as the Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 25w vs 35w with the T9400.

So, in a nutshell, you should get less heat, and increased battery life with the P9500.

Looked at the specs on the Intel website. The package types are different. Does that make a difference? Or are the pin locations different for Micro-FCPGA vs. Micro-FCBGA

Yes there is a difference (sorry, didn't notice this when i checked out intels pages), The micro-FCBGA has small ballbearings, and as far as I know, this is soldered to the motherboard. (see pic)

Whereas the micro-FCPGA has the more common pins.

Just done a little more research and it looks as if the T9400 comes in both forms. If you decided to get the T9400, you need to make sure you get the T9400 with code SLB46. This has pins. SLB46 (Intels Specs)

Just another thing, i'm not sure you can put a P9500 in the 8920g. Do you know what chipset it is. If it's the GM965 then you can't.

This will show you what processors are compatible.

Edit: Not sure the T9400 would work either. The best CPU for the laptop would probably be the T9500 or T9300.

    T9300 @ Newegg

There's a few on ebay aswell.
