I'd like to upgrade the memory in my Aspire 1691 from two 256MB modules to one 1GB module.

The memory type used is SDRAM-DDR333 SO-DIM PC2700.

    My questions are:
Can I use SDRAM-DDR400 SO-DIM PC3200, and is it faster?
Can I use DDR2 memory, and is this faster?
How do I change the memory?

    Thanks for your help,

    Fiatti

    Hello Fiatti,

before updatig your RAM you should check if the notebook supports such memory. Not the amount of RAM, this will work. The DDR frequences will be the problem.

On my Aspire 1801 (Intel 915P chip set) the DDR333 is running as DDR200! Instead of 166 MHz FSB only 106 MHz!

You need to check what chipset is working. And ... Acer will give not at all correct informations in their documentations and web sites about technical data.

    So long
