    hi, i got an aspire 5102 and out of the blue the lan stoped working. I rebooted, instaled new drivers, ran the recovery option to returned to original state but nothing works. when i plug the cable the leds do not react.

    so if anybody could help will be great. :confused:

    What does Device Manager show? No network adaptor or an exclamation mark?

    Happend to my Toshiba a few times, it disapeared, re-appeared and disappeared... randomly. Apparently it was because I updated the drivers and hadn't installed them properly.

    I had the problem resolved in this way;

    Get a copy of the install of the wired LAN drivers.

    Take out the battery and press the power button to get of any power left in it and then leave it for a few minutes.

    Insert battery, turn it on, (keep unplugged from wired LAN, can have power supply connected though).

    Boot into windows / safe mode.
    Uninstall the current drivers for the device from device manager.

    Reboot again into windows / safe mode.

    Install the drivers, reboot once more into windows this time.

    Insert LAN cable.

    Hopefully this will work ;)
