Hello, months ago I decided to upgrade my notebook with a pair of modules from Geil (512MB PC2700 333MHz - GDS2700-512A). I wasn't sure if they will work 100% with the 1804 so I ordered only one and, if it went well, buy another one to have 1GB.
There were no problem at all, but when I order the second one the store told me that they haven't, and they won't have it (out of stock, and deleted from catalogue).
The main problem is that is practically impossible to find any similar module in my country, and I'm stuck with 512MB (and two 256's laughing at me from the drawer [B)]).

    So my options are:
    1) find any Geil memory out of my country (very hard, many online-stores contacted with no answer at all: memory4less, abristech, axiontech, outpost...) it's a pain.
    2) i'm trying to have a refund from my store (they told me to wait and see if they can do something about it).
    3) sell it (anyone interested? [ :)])
    4) wait for "2)" and buy two sticks from Infineon (Infineon SO-DIMM 512 MB (DDR333)), praying for have no problems with them.

Next thing is that Acer published recently BIOS 2.90 ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_1800/bios/ (File: Aspire 1800 BIOS v2.90 (for machines with bios version higher than 2.00, only).zip.zip) addressing some bugs:
    -Release notes:
ECQ60 supports HDD UDMA5 mode at BIOS V2.70, but BIOS V2.80 is not.
BIOS V2.90 add Broadcom 5788 LAN chip workaround and fixed HDD kept UDMA2 issue.

I'm with v2.50 T03, with no problems so far... Any brave user wants to tell us if 2.90 worth the "risk"? [ :)]

    Greets from Spain.

Or you could buy one more stick of any 512mb of ram and not worry about the mem compatability issues that existed 10 years ago. Tried crucial?

That is an option that I did not consider. If there will be no problems mixing different brands (with the same timings) it's an option to have in mind. I think I could test it in the store before buying.
