you have a lot of secondary input options with your keys. I get that...but when you activate some secondary option, without knowing it and don`t have a clue how you even turned it on, it`s really beginning to get to me!
it may very well be I have some funky international unit (why does my CDN model have a symbol, not even the Quebecois use it!?)
anyhow, I`ve turned something on and I don`t know what. when I go to get my question mark, I get an É and instead of a slash I get an é. it seems I`ve hit some shortcut to activate the characters highlighted in red.
how do I turn these off? is there someway I can disable it on a more permanent basis? (btw, I`m getting those question marks cause I did a copy and paste off of Windows Live Messenger, where it doesn`t seem to have an effect).

set your keyboard to US english

good idea...tho I just checked `Keyboard`in Control Panel and there is no option for that. I just went into Regional Settings and swapped everything over from English - Canada to English - US as default as both the master default and keyboard default.
no change....éééééééé -
AHAH!!! I finally swapped more over to English - US and it's fixed! MUAH!!! many thanks tumnasgt, here's a rep point for your help!
