    HI!

IM buy an Acer 5010z, model 5610-2018. Processor T2080 core duo 1.73ghz, memory 1gb ddr2, HD 120GB Sata.

By default brings preinstaled Windows Vista Home Premium. And two partition C: (Windows Vista) 60gb and D: ( soft, drivers, restore, acer soft etc)

The first thing that I did, was to make a backup since it is that does not come with the Cd drivers!.

IM Use the "Erecovery management" ( 2 dvd ) for "Factory default image".
    "Then application backup" ( suppose are the drivers )? ( 1dvd )

After erase the bundled soft to trash!! like the norton security and the rest of the Acer arcade etc ... also eliminate entries of registry record with regcleaner.

I present my doubts to them here:

    1. Is it sufficient with those 2 backups? If I get to erase C: (the windows vista partition)

    2. I can erase the partition D: ? having made the backups that im mention ..

    3. If get to install ubuntu with dual boot ,How I create linux's partitions and where? / home /swap

    Thanks in advance ! :)

Yes thouse disk will let you restore back with execption of the disk to disk recovery

yes you can erase the d partion

in the ubunto install it will let you pick partion disk layout

by default if use option use free disk space it does not

    creat home partion

it make a swap and root partion?

i think have do munal partion if you want home partion but i cound be wrong :?

A ok thanks , yes /home is not necessary ,

My great doubt was if the data of that partition D: can be erased that way also install a clean vista or XP . (then i can restore only the drivers and empowering technology) on c:
