I finished my upgrade of my acer travelmate 2300. well, 90 percent done, I am going to be getting a dvd rw for it.
I upgraded from a celeron M 1.8, 512mb ram and 60 gig 4200 rpm drive to a pentium 745, 2 gigs of ram and a 120 gig 5400 seagate drive.
the performance is very very noticeable. boot times are very fast compared to before the switch, im running xp home with bricopack vista inspirat 2. looks and acts just like vista without the performance hit.
for the money spent its a bargain. 30 bucks for the processor, 70 for 2 gigs of ram and 65 for the hd.
upgrading the system was straight forward and no problems were encountered.
Next up is a dell xps M170. im going to max one of those out next. I love the older stuff and making it new.

I like also rebuilds ... did to my laptop a good " fresh up" too.
The people who can use laptops for other tasks than gaming ,
they do have the chance to feel positive , by making such upgrades. -
good work, my travelmate is long dead (dropped down stairs - r.i.p.) but was good for the nearly 4 years i had it. +1 rep
