    my sis recently bought a Acer TravelMate 3274WXMi notebook.

    but somehow the laptop came without its cd-rom drive installed.
    as in.
    its workin as per norm like ejectin n such.
    but its unable to detect any cd/dvd tt is inserted in.
    i cant find the drive under device manager as well.
    tried lookin for the cd-rom's driver in Acer's webiste but thr isnt one for windows vista (the notebook came with this os).
    so im wondering if u guys haf any idea whr i can get its driver.
    or mayb some help with how to go abt gettin this fixed.

    Since it was recently bought you better return it. It's a new machine which should work fine. You paid money for a working machine, not for something which needs some hacks to work.

    Do you have Vista x64? If so, it is possible that your Optical Drive doesn't have drivers for it yet. Acer should not have sold it to you in that configuration if that were the case though...call their tech support as that will put you into the proper channels for sending it in (if you contact customer service they will just make you go through tech support anyway). Sorry, I hope it turns out well!
