    need help with TM530

    My TravelMate 530 is giving me quite a headache, i hope someone can help me with this.

    I wanted to upgrade the RAM but i can't find the second slot. The first one is on the backside but i don't know where the 2nd one could be.

    The QSI combo drive isn't working very well anymore so i wanted to switch it for a NEC 6650A which has the same measurements but i can't get the QSI drive out of the case.

    any ideas?

    The second slot is probably under the keyboard. If you can get a copy of the service manual keyboard removal should be covered in there. Not sure on the optical. It is secured to the chasis somehow. It should ne covered in the service manual as well. Good Luck.

    From my experience with Acer's, there should be one to three screws on the bottom of the notebook, underneath the optical drive. You need to remove those, then the drive will slide out - you may need to give it a pull.

    I agree, the second memory slot is beneath the keyboard.

    I googled around a bit but no sign of a TM530 service manual - only TM520 :(

    Someone posted awhile back that had a bunch of Acer service manuals. May want to search for that. I have heard Acer is not too keen on haning them out.
