ok where to start...iv got these odd purple (ish) lines going down down my screen on boot up, and laptop load windows.

after a fresh install of windows (no nvidia graphics drivers) i still get the purple lines but it boots into windows :) no lines in windows. they seem to only be on the screen that gives u the option to enter the bios settings.

    i got a few questions...

1, am i right in thinkin its the gfx card at fault? ...iv reinstalled windows and updated the bios.

2, is there any sort of onboard gfx on the mobo, will it work with no card installed or if this one completely dies?

3, is it as simple as adding a modded bios file to the phlash tool that came with the acer bios?
from what iv read so far i need a modded bios for a geforce 9600m, a lot of reading still to do.

thanks for any help anyone can offer :)

E2a iv also swapped out the harddrive and changed the ram just to rule out as much as i could

it could be, but the gfx card works if it displays on screen i think if it wasnt working it shouldnt display anything..... if the problem is on the screen then problem is with the screen or gpu. updating or replacing ram hdd wont do anything

its seems to be working ok without drivers installed, not tried loading a game or anything. i still get the strange purple lines on booting up.
maybe i should try using the hdmi?

im just reading up on flashing the bios, seems i need a modded one to update the gfx card. might as well try and get it sorted out before it dies completely.

yeah try hdmi to see if purple line still there. if it is then its the gpu if not then its the screen, but try playing games too if the laptop stays fine then you dont have to worry at all.
