Ok i have searched and searched everywhere online.. here is my issue.. i have an acer aspire 5190 (i think 51 something) anyways, about 2 months after my warranty was up, my computer CRASHED.. i could not do a recovery and could not boot up.. i sent it to a friend of mine who works alot with computers,.. he was able to backup everything and get it at least running again,. however once he got it up and running the keyboard and touchpad STOPPED responding.. it responds in bios etc,. just doesnt work when you get to windows. Anyways, i have read all over the internet that this could be anything from a battery issue, to disabling something, to drivers etc,. but that it is a common problem with acer.. now the problem is, when he got it up and going he had to use an external usb mouse and keyboard, so when he did that he DISABLED the onboard ones. i cannot get ahold of him now, and i want to try some of the things that have been suggested on this site, but wont know if they work or not because they are DISABLED.. how do i go about enabling them? like i said it works with an external mouse and keyboard so this makes me think or hope that it isnt a motherboard issue.. any ideas?? Acer wants 500 bucks to try to fix it.. HEEEELP.. i hate having to use a keyboard and mouse, otherwise why not just use my desktop?

    Welcome to the Acer forum.

You mentioned in your post that your computer crashed and you could not do an Acer Recovery. Obviously, you pushed ALT+F10 at bootup?

Unless you re-installed Windows and deleted the PQ Service or Hidden Partition, it should work...always.

Luckily, the lappie is not totally screwed yet. Your hardware is OK. You have software issues.....

    See my sig

    Cheers,
