Hi guys, has anyone come across a problem with their full stop/forward arrow button, mine seems not to work, i am assuming it is a fault on the keyboard, can this be easilly rectified without returning to base as i need the beast every day.

    cheers

You mean Right and Left arrow keys on keyboard don't work? Can you browse through text with them? Can you browse through tabs in the BIOS (to access press F2 after you see Acer logo on start-up). If not, then you probably have defective motherboard. You should give Acer a call and explain the situation. Ask them to send you a new keyboard so that you can replace it yourself (it is pretty easy). This will saves you from being without laptop for 1-2 weeks. I've done that before with faulty HDD :D
But if you do decide to send it to them then back-up all your data as they restore HDD back to factory condition no matter what the original problem was.

Hi, a new keyboard, in the UK, would cost around £26.00...

Hi prikolchik sorry i did not make it a bit clearer, it is the full stop keynext to the question mark key that does not work. might just be a dodgy key, how easy is it to change the keyboard, as i have never tinkered with a laptop?

    cheers

I still don't understand which key you are talking about
Yes, it may be a dodgy key. You can carefully take it off and see if there is anything stuck under it that is preventing it from working. I had same problem with ~ key and i fixed it by taking the key off and carefully laying out the thin rubber coating between the key and metal keyboard base.
Replacing keyboard is one of the easiest tasks on any laptop ;) For your model, you have to carefully lift off a strip of plastic right above the keyboard (there might also be screws behind the LCD screen holding it in place, so don't forget them), then unscrew about 3 screws and carefully lift keyboard up. It will be connected to the motherboard and you will have to disconnect it and take it out. Then take new keyboard and do this process in reversed order. You might also want to look for a service manual on the internet, but don't ask here as it is against forum rules.

    Hope this helps.

Hi its the key you would use to get the dot in www.

i have located a service manual so a new board shouldnt be a problem, thanks for your help
