I've only been looking on Acer's HK website and noticed a news release regarding this laptop. On the Hareware forum I mentioned that I was looking for an ultra portable to use also instead of just my 1681. This new Acer model might just fit the ticket.

I'll be on holidays there next month and if it's avail there in the stores I will be taking a good look at it. Hopefully it will be as reliable as my 1681 has been if I get it, and of course if it needs servicing hopefully that can be taken care of here.

It probably will be avail here in North America, whether the price will be competitive with the models you mentioned remains to be seen.

AFA the pricing in HK, keep in mind that HK is a free port city, items avail there is tax free. The price you see at the stores is what you pay and with certain stores you can haggle a little too on big ticket items. With that in mind I think the pricing of this laptop in HK is in the ball park with ultra portable pricing.
