    hi all

my chum asked me to put his laptop back to factory settings, so I done the Alt/F10 on the Acer logo page to take me to the page to start this. On the Acer eRecovery Management Page I use the restore system to factory default, when I do this I get a message saying D2D32 - Type mismatch and then hangs there forever until you turn it off. I was reading on here about that error code and done what it said to do to make sure that it was enabled and it is. I have rang Acer and they said theres nothing they can do as it out of warranty, by 24 days :(
He didnt make any recovery discs and hes pissed at me because this has happened!! am not happy myself, as I rebooted 3 other acers with no problems.
Would he need to purchase disks or can they be got free??

    thanks

    Janet

I doubt that very much as he doesnt know anything about laptops so he wouldnt work around with things and all I done was the alt/f10.

Why dont you just install fresh copy of Vista without all the acer bloatware on it, believe me it runs much faster. Anyway you could download the acer stuff from their FTP server if you really want them

Hi, what happens when you right click on my computer, left click on manage then on disk managment. What can you see in Disk 0, there should be three partitions with one labelled pqservice. If there isn't then someone has messed about with the partitions, if there is then this http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=11476 thread might be of help....

hi thanks for all the help and advice here.
When I turn the laptop on it tries to start up I get a black screen with ctrl/alt/del in top left corner, nothing happens and when I do alt F10 it will go so far and then give me the error message D2D32 - Type mismatch.
Will try and download vista unto a dvd and see if it will work.
Am going away til monday so I wont be on again until then, will post any results I get.

    Thanks again

    Janet

Hi, if you've not got a copy of Vista and your hard drive partitons are corrupted then you are on a hiding to nowhere. The only action you can do is to either contact Acer direct and order some recovery disks or purchase Vista from a store. Personally I'd try Acer as this will get the laptop back to factory settings..

Ok, no problems, sounds like it might be some hardware issue..
