I just got a new logitech nano laser mouse and cannot figure it out.

I was using a microsft usb mouse and it worked fine.

I tried the new mouse on my desktop and it worked fine.
It shows up in the device manager under mice as an HID compliant mouse.

When I plug the receiver into the laptop I do not get an acknowledgment of the device.
Under device manager it shows up under "Other Devices">> USB Receiver"
and when I try to update the driver I have no luck.

I have tried the add new hardware and that does not work.

Is my USB port not strong enough to power it or what?

    any suggestions would be great.

I am on a Travelmate 4230, XP Pro

Did you get any Driver Disks? If so, install them. That may fix the problem.

I have the add hardware search the disk, no luck.
I also downloaded a newer version and no luck.

I think the problem is the USB port. It does not recognize this particular receiver.

when i plug in the receiver I do not get the sound that something has been plugged in like I do with anything else I plug in (flash drives, other mouses, etc)

Thanks for the reply, keep the ideas coming pleaase
