    no more acer laptop...

    unfortunately i have had just returned my second Acer, the first the 1683wlmi due to burning smell coming from the USB port when using a mouse, and the second the 1693wlmi due to over heating problems. i don't know if its a problem with all acers or just the new portfolio design!???... the right side on the laptop got too hot to touch. not something i was willing to put with from a $1850 machine (i am from the UK here i paid £949, the exchange rate a bummer huh???)...

    so i am without a laptop and i don't know if i would pay to buy an acer any more.

    any suggestions???...

    Acer 1693wlmi, P-M 750, 512mb, ATI X600 w128, 80gb hdd.

    You can always look at Asus. I think the Z71v is getting good reviews (and is similiar to the acer 8103/4). I dont own it but its up near the top of my list (along with the acer 8103 or 8104, which sadly according to this forum has some flicker issues :( )
